Project Overview

This kitchen remodel in Mukilteo was all about maximizing space and making a bold, cohesive statement. The original layout lacked cabinet storage and visual impact. The homeowners wanted to keep the dark cabinet color they loved, while upgrading the overall flow, function, and finishes. We gave them all that and more with this full kitchen transformation.

Key Features

  • Expanded Cabinetry with a Bold Finish
We added a full wall of custom black cabinetry to create more storage without overcrowding the space. The clean shaker profile gives a timeless, elevated feel that anchors the kitchen beautifully.
  • Marble-Look Quartz Countertops
Both the island and perimeter countertops feature soft-veined quartz that offers durability and beauty — perfect for everyday cooking and entertaining.
  • Stainless Steel Hood with Brass Detailing
The custom hood is a true statement piece. Wrapped in stainless with bold brass trim, it adds depth and character to the range wall and complements the other metallic finishes.
  • Full-Height Backsplash with Accent Trim
We installed a marble tile backsplash from counter to ceiling for a clean, seamless look. A thin brass inlay detail brings extra dimension and ties into the faucet and fixtures.

This original kitchen in Mukilteo had great potential, but the layout didn’t take full advantage of the space. Storage was limited, the workflow felt tight, and the overall design made the kitchen feel smaller than it really was. The homeowners loved the look of dark cabinetry and wanted to keep those rich tones while transforming the space into something more functional and visually striking.

To make that vision possible, we made structural improvements that completely changed how the kitchen works. The deck and door leading to the deck were relocated, which opened up valuable wall space and allowed us to add significantly more cabinetry. Once the framing was completed, we repositioned the refrigerator to the opposite side of the kitchen and relocated the farmhouse sink, creating a much larger and more comfortable cooking zone.

The new kitchen centers around custom inset shaker cabinetry in a deep, dramatic tone, paired with Jeffrey Alexander hardware that adds a refined contrast. One of the most distinctive features of the space is the custom range hood, carefully designed to match the cabinetry and become a focal point of the kitchen.

After installing the cabinetry and 3cm quartz countertops, we completed the backsplash with marble subway tile, accented with a subtle gold trim that ties together the cabinetry hardware, fixtures, and hood details. The result brings warmth, texture, and a high-end finish to the entire space.

One of the best parts of this kitchen remodeling project is that the homeowners were away on vacation during construction. When they returned home, the transformation was a complete surprise.
